Mini Fundraiser & Networking Mixer
We returned to favorite Houston hangout AXELRAD to host local community meetups, speakers, workshop leaders, volunteers, & VIP attendees for a night of vibes! BrandIt Local came through with a selfie booth, sweet goods were provided by Shanise Cakes, and summertime margarita Don’t Mind If I Do helped raised funds for Melanin Minds.
Conference Day 1:
Professional Development
Taking over the Greater Houston Big Brothers Big Sisters for the weekend, the sold out conference kicked off with a yummy jumbalaya food demo by Chef Yo of Nuksy’s Catering & free vaccines provided by the Houston Health Department. Kicking off the day with a soundbowl opening by Joy Soul Music, Conference MC LaGina R. Harris guided attendees through a day of panels, workshops, and breakouts covering topics like: interpersonal relationships • adversity & stigmas around BIPOC mental health • discovering leadership qualities • the link between physical & mental health • & so much more.
Conference Day 2:
Personal Development
Day 2 started with a delicious taco bar provided by Nuksy’s Catering, unlimited & new Celsius flavors, caffeine provided by Tre Brew Coffee, and more soundbowl healing from Joy Soul Music. Another amazing lineup of panels and workshops covered topics including: overcoming self-sabotage • finding your way to you • nutrition as a foundation for healing • yoga & meditation • the effects of social media on relationships • menopause • humor & laughter • & more!
Conference Day 3:
Self Care & Family Day
While we hosted toddlers, teens, & families throughout the weekend, Sunday included special family-friendly programming like an all-day activation provided by Mommy & Me Book Nook. We kicked off with a vegan food demo with The Vegan Palate chef Theresa Parker, and our final sound healing from Joy Soul Music. Panels & workshops for the day included: the art of self expression • financial mental health • advocating for children & families • yoga for youth • and the 5 pillars of wellness. Throughout the day, attendees enjoyed free self care services, including massages by Tha Wellness Jawn, compression therapy by iCryo, and ear seed acupunture by The Institute of Integrative Health Specialists.
