Kameco de los Santos

Mental Health Advocate

Kameco de los Santos is the proud mother of three children. Her first son started showing signs of social and emotional deficits around two years old. For over ten years, she fought to understand the complicated Special Education system to get him the necessary accommodations for his success. Then, at 13, he was diagnosed with Autism, but this did not help make enough of a case for the services required to ensure his success. Finally, after working with several advocates and seeking legal counsel, it became evident that she had to be that for him. Kameco took on this challenge and continues to proudly advocate for her son, who is now entering his 10th-grade year of high school.
