Melanin Minds Awarded Advancing Health Equities Grant through Houston Health Foundation

The Houston Health Department has received funds from the CDC to implement strategies and activities to address COVID-19 health disparities and health inequities. The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated and highlighted issues related to social determinants of health in our community. People with unmet social needs are at higher risk for chronic diseases and mental illnesses.

In partnership with Houston Health Foundation, the Advancing Health Equity Grant aims to support the work of organizations that present solutions and programs that address the health inequities of Houston’s most vulnerable populations. Organizations within the grant program receive funding and capacity-building resources, helping increase their reach and community impact.

Melanin Minds is honored to be a recipient and grantee of the Advancing Health Inequities Grant. Funds supported over 15 events, reaching over 400 attendees across Houston communities most affected by COVID-19.
