Melanin Minds Mental Health Conference 2024:
A Weekend To Remember
Our 4th Annual Mental Health Conference welcomed new & returning faces from across the U.S. to the historical Mellie Esperson building for 3 days of holistic melanin wellness. We took over the 6th floor with a colorful gathering of thought leaders and community spanning five generations.
Featuring over 25 interactive sessions & workshops, attendees were able to curate their own healing journey based on their specific needs, from yoga or affirmations to nutritional gardening or grief. Speakhaus founder Sherhara Downing served as the energetic Master of Ceremonies, guiding attendees through opportunities to collaborate or reflect, depending on the day.
Mainstage Replays
Relive the melanin magic or catch up on a portion of our agenda! Shoutout to our A/V one-man team Darrell Jimmerson for capturing our mainstage panels.
Returning partner Axelrad hosted our preview night & mini fundraiser welcoming out-of-town & state speakers & VIP attendees for an evening of vibes before the fun.
Celsius kept us energized throughout the weekend, while CForce kept us hydrated. Hawt House Coffee hosted a charming Bistro complete with coffee & tea bar, with a percentage of proceeds being donated to Melanin Minds.
Roxy Wuz Here provided an interactive art installation, Dear Little Me. Attendees added their thoughts, drawings & inspiration to this incredible piece beaming with inner child healing.
Our Rest & Reset Wellness Lounge provided soothing silence, space to stretch, and provided an intimate setting for Bronze Productions’ Self Reflection Writing Workshop.
LaRae Infinity popped up with a podcast lounge to capture real-time testimonials and personal testimonies, & BrandIt Local provided 360 & self photo booths to capture the fun.
Conference Playlist
Our vendor marketplace featured small BIPOC-owned businesses from as far as Chicago, intentionally curated to cover jewelry to journals, candles to coloring. Exhibitors like Harris County Precinct 2, Purposeful Play Learning Academy, and D&K Counseling provided much-needed connection to local resources to continue the healing after the conference.
Our Self Care Sunday included complimentary self care services like massage therapy with A Kneaded Touch, stretch therapy with Constantilian Buxie, Ask A Therapist sessions with D&K Counseling, and sound healing with Realaxation.
We continued the party each night with Happy Hour meetups at Swallow’s Nest, & ensured safe travels with Alto Rideshare vouchers.
DJ Bronze hopped on the 1’s and 2’s at our staff & contributor after party, on top of curating this year’s official conference playlist. Stream now on Spotify!
